A BIG thanks to Wes Peck for his continuing willingness to take and post END race photos. Wes' photos of this race, like all the others he's been at, tell a great story--the muddy feet in bogs, the determination of racers attempting the unique END mystery challenges, the vast landscapes, and the happy, confused and serious racers' faces. ll good - but you can lose the bike tube reinforcement (just get strong zip ties) the zips won't break, and if they do it means there was too much force somewhere and you will be happy to not be attached anymore.

Also, I like to pull the whole leash out and cut most of it off (except the last few feet) and tie it to the bungee (cut one bungee hook off too). This saves weight and keeps the leash from reeling out too much cord.

i don't want to give too much away... but lets put it this way - you're going to have to use your brains and figure a few things out in order to do the plotting - something that i learned from swamp donkey last year.... lets just call it developing a 'field scale'

so bring whatever you want - all you really will need is a pen, some sort of straight edge (even the edge of a sheet of paper will work), and a few neurons that are still firing.....

My whole team is fitter than I am, but that brings up a point....to win a race (even if we are just looking at fitness) the least fit person on your team has to be fitter than the least fit person on the other teams....my team has gotten really good at making me seem fitter by carrying my stuff and pulling me and all sorts of other tricks I won't tell you till after the race.

steve - just need the name of your other team member. Jim - i don't want to give away too many details, but i can tell you that you won't be required to carry your boats the whole time like in the 24 hour race. if you are planning to packraft you'll drop your boat at a predetermined location the morning of the race. If you get to that location with enough time you will be able to choose to do the packraft leg which will require, at the end, about a 3/4 mile run/walk back to the boat drop carrying the raft. Racers will reach this spot about a third to half of the way into the race and be returning a couple of times, depending on their choices. this is the only 'drop' location where racers will be allowed to leave stuff. we will provide more details about how this all works and what can be left, etc closer to the race date.
